incredible

I think there is a point in everyone's life where you realize what you are meant for, what you are going to do, and where you need to be. This point came to me when I was almost 21, and I experienced the glory that is, The Incredibles. It wasn't just the amazing animation, it was the style, the mood, the world that was created. They were able to perfectly catch a 1960's style movie, but mix it with a hero base feel. When I first watched the movie, I was filled with the overwhelming desire to draw, to create my own world. I know I must animate... And thus, I'm on that road. Still movies hit me and make me yearn and pine for the feel of a perfect pencil on paper, but it was The Incredibles that led me to my path. I know the path is long in front of me, but the passion to create something so unique, such as The Incredibles, will never leave me.

The Cous Cous Kid
The CousCous Kid, artist/graphic designer, has truly taken his art to new levels. In a world of quick fixes with "stock" vector images. The "Kid" proudly hand draws/creates all of the elements in his virtual world. An incredible example to all around. So let's raise a glass to Mr. Kid and his world of fine tuned doodles, and also fart at those who use art made by someone else in their blasphemes. AMEN!

Si Fi.... FYI
Si Scott has perfected the art of Flourish illustration. He has taken his style and applied it in a way that has affected the graphic design world like few others have even come close to. By taking simple curves and lines to create beautiful and powerful imagery, like only he can do, everything hand drawn from the eyes of it's creator. Though, it hasn't come without imitators, this style of Flourish design has become one of the biggest trends as far as logo creation and ad design in 2008 (Belonging to that field myself, and even imitated in my own way). His style alone deserves credit for this movement. I give the highest honor my red beard can muster... To Si.... Here's an "attaboy" for ya! A true inspiration for viewing things as only Jimi Hendrix on crack could discribe. You Friggin Rock!

So to all you Revolution-ites out there, take a gander, and keep it Revolution moving.

What dreams are made of...
One of the best animated features of all time, The Iron Giant. Virtually unknown by many in our day to those of a more "Disney" based back ground, this cinema film truly caught sight of the essence of a great movie. Amazing story yes (which most animated movies have failed to acheive, creating "toonies for the kiddies"), but stunning hand drawn animation in a time when hand drawn animation was tossed aside for a "quicker fix" of 3D stylings. The Iron Giant took hold of what is now considered a lost art, bringing to life some of the most memorable and inspiring characters to ever grace the silver screen, such as: Hogarth Hughes, a virtual clone of a younger Redbeard. Always looking for a new adventure, finding the friends where others can only see a monster.Plus, to stress the Damn Fine Art taken place by some of the great artists of our time, such as: Alan Bodner and Mark Whiting (one of the most passionate artists of all time). My hat's off to you gentlemen.
If you haven't seen this yet, I will LEND you out my copy (strong emphasis on LEND...too many of you ramp scallions have stolen many a treasure from my chest). It will plant a seed in your heart that will grow, and remind you.... "You are not a gun if you don't want to be."
