Emotions

Something struck home the other day while I was re-evaluating my standing on becoming an animator. I need to draw more.... But what? That was always the question. What to draw? People, well of course... Positions?, well obviously ... Then it came to me, good animation is not telling a story with words or sounds, but by showing emotion. So here I have started my new movement!!! It is my goal to draw, not a picture, but an emotion every day in hopes of improving my skills not only as an artist, but as story teller. Here are my first few days of efforts. (it started with "tired")

Indifference.... He is deciding to eat either the person, or the ice cream cone.. both are very good.

Apprehension...

Anyways, here is my start... We'll see how long it lasts. ;)

P.S. - If anyone would like to recommend an emotion for me to draw, I would take it gladly! These are both emotions recommended by some friends of mine. Thanks buddies!

incredible

I think there is a point in everyone's life where you realize what you are meant for, what you are going to do, and where you need to be. This point came to me when I was almost 21, and I experienced the glory that is, The Incredibles. It wasn't just the amazing animation, it was the style, the mood, the world that was created. They were able to perfectly catch a 1960's style movie, but mix it with a hero base feel. When I first watched the movie, I was filled with the overwhelming desire to draw, to create my own world. I know I must animate... And thus, I'm on that road. Still movies hit me and make me yearn and pine for the feel of a perfect pencil on paper, but it was The Incredibles that led me to my path. I know the path is long in front of me, but the passion to create something so unique, such as The Incredibles, will never leave me.

For the benefit of..

One of the most influential bands of all times, whose influence is still seen today. A band I turn to daily. And even though Paul died early in 1964, his replacement has done a great job. Go Beatles go!

The Cous Cous Kid

The CousCous Kid, artist/graphic designer, has truly taken his art to new levels. In a world of quick fixes with "stock" vector images. The "Kid" proudly hand draws/creates all of the elements in his virtual world. An incredible example to all around. So let's raise a glass to Mr. Kid and his world of fine tuned doodles, and also fart at those who use art made by someone else in their blasphemes. AMEN!
