WireFrame WIP

I've just started a new character, a viking of my own design. With this character I really wanted to work on clean topology so that it would deform correctly when animated. so here is a sneak peak of the viking man to come.

Preview of Character Study

So I've been following some videos from eat3D.com on character production. I finally had time to finish the polypaint his body. Here is a preview of what I have done so far. I'll post more once he is complete, which hopefully will be in a few days if I have time.

Enjoy.

My Award

It finally came! Back in April I was a runner up in a contest from 3D Artist Mag. And today my award came, they printed out my Pug Monster Pet. And it's awesome! I love it so freaking much. This very well could cause an extremely bad habit for me to start creating and printing my own Toy designs.
Now who could say no to that sweet lil' face?

Meet B.B.

Some of my favorite movies of all time are the Kill Bill movies. I love the styles of the 2 films. The story is great, and I watch them on a regular basis. I have always wanted to model Beatrix Kiddo in 3D, but then the thought came to me... what about her daughter B.B.? So I imagined taking her mothers place, and reassembling the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad.
I've never really drawn a girl before, so here is my first attempt. I apologize for the coloring, I really suck at coloring and lighting, but then again this was a great practice piece. Plus I fully plan on modeling this character in 3D as well.
Anyways, meet, B.B. Kiddo...

More Practice

Not only have I been working on my 2D skills, but at night I have been brushing up on my 3D skills since mainly at work we have been working on 2D games.
Here is a little fellow I have been working on for the past few nights. I've been following some great tutorial videos from eat3D.com. This one has been a lot of fun, being that I've never tried to sculpt an old fat man  before. So many different folds and wrinkles. Hopefully I'll finish up in a few more days.

Expressions

Here are some doodles from more lessons from pencil kings. These lessons have been a great warm up for my day.

Finding my Pencil Zen

Lately I've been out of touch with my Pencil Zen. Sketching and drawing almost seem like a distant friend, who in times past we would have great sleep overs, telling ghost stories and building forts! And now, it's more like we talk on occasion, but never indulge in the great pleasures of old.

So what I have done to reconcile my friend and I, I have joined a great site called PencilKings.com
They have some great drawing tutorials and great teachers from various fields in the industry.
Below, I have attempted to get my groove back and practice eyes. The instruction behind these eyes came from one of the great teachers at pencilkings.com named Sycra Yasin, who is a fantastic artist.

Well for now, my pencil are at least on speaking terms, but with time and hope, we will be building forts and TPing the neighbors house in no time!

Long Time No Post

Wow, it's been a bit since I've posted anything. Apparently I have been extremely busy or extremely lazy... actually a little bit of both.
Anywho, I've decided to post some models I have made as of late. Recently there was a contest from 3D Artist Mag to design your own toy pet monster. And the winner of the competition actually will win a 3D printer from MakerBot. So of course I had to enter being that I have an extensive collection of designer toys.

First I made my Pug monster pet. So cute and innocent from the front, hideous monster in the back. I find this true with real life pugs as well. Someone actually printed this one out, you can see that here.

The second one I made I really was having fun with form. I made the Clumsy  Baby Dragon. He looks really bent and broken , but he was designed so he can stand and is completely balanced. I really would like this one to be printed because it melts my heart every time I look at it.

You can check out my entry, and the other entries here at Thingiverse.com

The winners are yet to be announced but I will keep you posted.

I will also try to blog more in  general...
